What to do in Huaraz and surroundings?
The Cordillera Blanca is one of the most beautiful scenery of Peru and the world, with peaks over 6000 meters including Huascaran 6768 meters which attracts climbers from around the world.
The Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera Huayhuash are a paradise for lovers of nature and adventure, hikers have here splendid scenarios for their activities from 1-15 days with heights from 3000-5000 m, the most popular is the trek Llanganuco - Santa Cruz, lasting 4-5 days when you can appreciate the beautiful turquoise lagoons Llanganuco with many snowy mountains including Huascaran, Pisco, Huandoy, Taulliraju, etc, and for the more adventurous walks 10 - 15 days around the Huayhuash mountain range with 8 4700-5000 meters high passes with pristine and wild landscapes.
For those who do not want to walk much there are circuits of one day as the beautiful lagoon 69, Lagoon of Churup, and Auquiscocha (an excellent vantage point of the Cordillera Blanca), we also have the classic tours visiting the towns of Carhuaz and Yungay which was buried by an avalanche on Huascaran in 1970 killing more than 20,000 people.
Also in one day we can reach the 5000 meters high Nevado Pastoruri and visiting the beautiful Puya Raimondi, another day you can visit Chavin pre-Inca archaeological center and cradle of civilization of Peru. At the end we can visit the Canyon del Pato in the southern part of the Callejon de Huaylas across 35 breathtaking tunnels and visit the typical city of Caraz.
